Handmade Media Experiments: Day 1

February 13, 2012

We started our electronics embedded in handmade paper experiments today at the Center for Book & Paper Arts here in not-so-sunny and warm Chicago.  The first step was to determine what would transform the light emitted from el panels placed between two sheets of wet paper, so we reviewed a bunch of samples from the studio utilizing pulp screening, pulp painting, stencil, and layering techniques.  The panels are seriously wonderful flat luminous objects and can stand getting wet during the papermaking process.  We had an absolute blast, complete with gold pigment and some feathers thrown in for good measure.

Next up:  conductive paint experiments in the wet process.
